In a year that has been so unique for so many, we are grateful that there are still things to be thankful for. In this time, amidst a global pandemic, we feel grateful for the chance to be able to support our community.
In that light, this Giving Tuesday, we’re proud to announce our partnership with i.c.stars, an organization that provides a rigorous program of tech-based workforce development and leadership training for underserved adults. i.c.stars then works to place these candidates in roles ranging from front end developers to business analysts.
I first learned about i.c.stars many years ago while working at another company. I was thrilled when the opportunity came to connect Kalderos with the organization.
We’ve been impressed with the i.c.stars team and its cohorts since our first “high tea” event, when six team members from across Kalderos sat down with the cohort and learned about the multitude of backgrounds and passions of each of the individuals. We knew then that these were the hardworking and dedicated individuals who could make an impact at Kalderos.
In addition to direct financial sponsorship, Kalderos will support this partnership by hiring three paid externs per year, each at the conclusion of the 16-week i.c.stars cohort. Through these three-month externships, candidates will learn technical skills —from scrum to development and beyond — that will help support them in future roles. We’re honored to be able to provide the real world experiences that will help prepare these externs for their next roles. Additionally, Kalderos will support i.c.stars with workshop experiences, including technical programming in full-stack technologies, drawing from the talent within the company to share helpful content.
We’ve been privileged to receive our Series B funding during COVID-19, and to support hiring initiatives throughout the past few months as we’ve grown, including recently hiring a developer from an i.c.stars cohort. The chance to be able to support this organization and its graduates, especially as we are battling COVID-19, is so rewarding for us. The fact we are able to tap into new pools of candidates, including through i.c.stars, means that our employees have increasingly diverse experiences to bring to the table — which benefits everyone.
Kalderos is first and foremost a tech company, working to build unifying solutions in healthcare. We achieve our mission when we can enable those on the frontlines of healthcare to best support patients. And we achieve that goal through technology. That’s why we are so thrilled for this partnership, since the i.c.stars mission is one which we can directly support, enabling us to grow together. We look forward to seeing where this partnership takes us.
